Daniel Gil de Avalle y Montes, was born in the Andalusian city of Jaen in 1961. Later, in 1965, his family moved to Granada to the typical district called Realejo. From an early age he studied music and violin at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Granada, continuing his studies later in Madrid. He began to specialize in string instruments such as classical and Flamenco guitar, lutes, bandurrias (Spanish Lute), violins, violas and cello etc. His desire to learn allowed him to make contact with numerous musical instrument makers in Realejo. He decided to enter the world of guitar-making under the guidance of the famous Luthier Manuel Bellido, and later was to marry his daughter Susana Bellido. He now has his own line of guitars and musical instruments.
Manuel L. Bellido, was born in Granada in 1939. At the age of 13 he started to work as a carpenter in the well-known "el Macareno" workshop. When he was 18 he began working in the workshop of the great master D. Eduardo Ferrer, and became his most outstanding pupil. During his long career he has had many apprentices who are nowadays famous guitar-makers: Daniel Gil de Avalle y Montes, José López Bellido, Juan López Aguilarte, Francisco Santiago Marín, Rafael Moreno, Juan Miguel Carmona, José Marín and of course his three sons, Roberto, Jesús and Miguel Angel. He is currently using different methods of construction and assembly, fruit of his innovation, such as the double top, the double body ( and base). D. Eusebio Rioja writes in his book "Inventory of Granada Guitar-makers" that Mr. Bellido´s work-shop is like a Renaissance work-shop, where he never stops researching, investigating and experimenting to find the perfect harmony and sound of each instrument, which has made his work and his name famous throughout the world.
